Well, I have a few jobs, and my favorite one is being a Doula. Even though I don’t consider it a job, it is something that I am passionate about and love to do.
Birthplace/place(s) you call home:
I was born in the South near the Golf of Mexico, grew up in Upper Michigan and call Duluth my home. I have traveled and lived in many places, but Duluth is by far my favorite place to be. In all reality I think I would be happy anywhere as long as I am close to Lake Superior.
How did you become involved with Duluth Homegrown Music Festival, and in what ways have you been involved?
I first got involved by volunteering many years ago. (A friend talked me into it) Then joined the band Electric Graveyard Afterlife and we played the fest a few years in a row. I will always try to be a part of the Duluth Homegrown Festival in anyway I can. I’m hooked.
What act are you most excited for this year?
Hmmm…do I have to pick one? I usually try to see bands that I have never seen or heard of before, but it is hard to say what will happen. I just go with the flow of it all and sometimes I will end up somewhere random.
What is your favorite way to channel your personal creativity?
Music and art! Making music is number one. Then I would have to say that crafting and creating art is second. I love wild foraging, and crafting with the things I find in the forest. Most of my art and music is influenced by nature. That’s a big reason why I am in Duluth. We are surrounded by nature and there is a strong, eclectic music scene here. Those are just a few of the things that makes Duluth such a cool city.
Words of advice for those thinking about volunteering?
Embrace it and have fun!
