The four members of the Little Black Books all played in the first Homegrown Music Festival — with four different bands. Frontman Mark Lindquist was in Giljunko, drummer Jim Hagstrom was in Gild, guitar player Bob Olson was in Father Hennepin, and bassist Ethan Thompson was in Crazy Betty. Lindquist and Olson formed the Little Black Books in 2004, releasing three full-length albums before the group went on hiatus in 2008. Adding Hagstrom and Thompson to the lineup, the band returned in 2010 and this spring released the first album with the new lineup. Redoubt was recorded at Hagstrom’s Dog Talk studio and released on Lindquist’s Shaky Ray Records label.
