One gets the feeling Rory James feels most comfortable tucked away deep in the woods. Though the acoustic singer/songwriter cut his teeth playing small shows at pubs and coffee houses in Duluth, he more recently made his bones honing his craft in the Seattle area. In the time he doesn’t spend playing shows in the Pacific Northwest and Twin Ports, he takes long writing and recording sabbaticals in remote coastal areas of Alaska. The results are extended, moody guitar numbers infused with his unmistakable baritone vocals; a sound inspired by wilderness solitude as much as Howlin’ Wolf and M. Ward. A debut album is scheduled for 2011.
